In this brief workshop, to be held on Thursday, December 6, in Evans Library (room to be announced), University Writing Center Executive Director Valerie Balester will cover the essential elements required in a writing-intensive course: assigning, instructing, grading, and commenting on student writing. The workshop will be held in two sessions. From 10 am to 12:00 pm, the topic will be creating effective writing assignments and instructional methods. From 12:30 – 1:30 pm, the topic will be grading and commenting on student writing.
Lunch will be provided for those who register for the full workshop from 12:00 -12:30 pm. During lunch, faculty will have the opportunity to meet writing consultants and learn about the support for student writers offered by the University Writing Center.
